Mini Three-Gorges on Madu River
Mini Three-Gorges, lying on Madu River that is Daning
River's branch and converges with it on Dicui Gorge, is the combining
name of Changtan Gorge, Qinwang Gorge and Sancheng Gorge. Its scenery
is gorgeous and charming. Sancheng Gorge, 5 kilometers in full length,
is now the only one developed for tourism. Alongside the river high
mountains are surprisingly steep and deep valleys are deep.
Stalactites of various shapes hanging down from rocks give one
infinite imaginations. From grasses and flowers grown out the mossy
stalactites crystal water drops like pearls trickling down, it is full
of primitive life here. In an ancient Chinese poem it was described as
"long natural gallery with spectacular rocks alongside and spindrifts
swirling around cliffs". It is the fairyland!
Since Madu River is shallow and torrential and shoals
abound, powerboats cannot voyage in. In tours against the current, tourists have to sail by willow leave shaped canoe poled and tracked
to forward. Standing on canoes and immersed by beautiful scenery in
quietness, people will have a feeling of returning to nature and being
embraced by it! At the same time you would be grateful to boaters'
hard working.
Nowadays, Mini Three-Gorges provides a new
service--drifting by rubber dinghy. After arriving at the end of
Sancheng Gorge, tourists can rent imported advanced rubber dinghy with
golden lifevest on to start drifting themselves. Though Madu River is
torrential, the 5-kilometer-long drifting will be terrifically
shocking but secure due to the shallow water. Since many people do not
know how to steer dinghies, the driftage makes people extremely
exciting and nervous. While the driftage ends, no matter what their
conditions are, even soaked through, people will say: " Wow, river
wild! Madu River is fascinating."
