 Taklimakan Desert is located
in the center of Tarim Basin in Xin Jiang. It is 1000 km long from
east to west, and 400 km wide from south to north, covers an area of
337600 square km, which is the second largest desert in the world.
In the summer time, desert sand temperature can reach 70-80
centigrade while air temperature can reach 50 centigrade in the day,
and at night, the temperature can drop below 20 centigrade, so it is
called The Sea of Death. In this 19 days tour, we will take you to
experience the terror and the charm of this grand desert.

Arrive in Urumqi, the capital city of Xin Jiang Uygur
Autonomous Region, meet at airport, and transfer to stay in a 4 star
hotel in downtown area. |

Drive from Urumqi to Korla, on the way, visit the Bosten
Lake. Stay in a 2 star hotel. |

D3 |
Drive from Korla to Mingfeng, crossing the Taklimakan
Desert from north to south on the longest desert highway in the world.
Stay in a 2 star hotel. |

D4 |
Drive from Mingfeng to Yutian, then turn north to drive
along the Keliya River into the desert, on the way, visit the local
ethnic groups, enjoy the scenery of the poplar forest along the river.
Camping at night. |

Continue drive north along the Keliya River to the
Daheyan Village. Camping. |

Using 7 days, trekking 88 km in the center of Taklimakan
Desert from east to west, to Maztag Mountain(1246 m high) by the side
of Hetan River, and climb to the top of Mt. Maztag to enjoy the
magnificent view of the desert, the river, and the sunset. In the
evening, have a bonfire party to celebrate the success of the
trekking. (Note: Each day, trek about 20 km in about 6 hours) Camping. |

Drive north for 2 days along the Hetan River from Maztag
to Aksu at the north side of the desert. Stay in a 2 star hotel. |

D15 |
Drive from Aksu to Kucha, visit the Kezil Thousand
Buddha Cave, and the Kucha Grand Temple. Stay in a 2 star hotel. |

D16 |
Drive from Kucha to Turpan. Stay in a 3 star hotel. |
|
D17 |
Sightseeing in Turpan, including the Karez underground
irrigation system, the Jiaohe Ruined Town, Sugong Tower, Flaming Hill
and the Grape Valley. |

D18 |
Morning visit the Beziklik Thousand Buddha Cave, the
Astana Tomb, and the Gaochang Ruined Town. Then drive back to Urumqi,
on the way, visit the wind power station. Stay in a 4 star hotel. |

D19 |
Morning visit the Erdaoqiao Bazaar in Urumqi, after
lunch, transfer to airport for your departure. |
