 Yunnan is situated at the southwest corner of China,
borders Tibet, Burma, Laos, and Vietnam. It has everything from the
towering snow mountains to the tropical rain forest, so it earned
another name as the Kingdom of Plants and Animals.
Recent survey by the Kunming
 Zoology Institute
showed that there are about 2000 golden-hair monkeys living in the
mountains in the northwest part of Yunnan, especially the triangle
area where Weixi, Deqin and Zhongdian bordered.
In this tour, our professional mountain
tour guide will take you to the triangle
area and camp in the mountain for 5 nights, trying to view this
lovely animal.

Arrive in Kunming, meet at airport, and transfer to a 4
star hotel in downtown area. |

Take a morning flight from Kunming to Lijiang, meet at
Lijiang airport and transfer to visit the Lijiang Old Town which is a
World Cultural Heritage site. Stay in a 4 star hotel in Lijiang. |

Drive from Lijiang to Tacheng, a small town to the left
of Yangtze River, on the way, visit the First Bend of Yangtze River at
the Stone Drum town. Stay in a local villager’s house. |

D4 |
Drive to Xianggu Qing Village, then trek up the mountain
following a stream, set up camp and waiting for the monkeys. Usually,
the best time to view the monkeys is in the morning, because all
monkeys in this mountain have to come to this stream to drink water,
so you just need to hide yourself and wait in the silence with your
telescope. |

The same as D4, wait near water. Camping in the
mountain. The monkeys live in the Yunnan pine forest, there are also
some other trees like firs and spruces. The altitude is from 2500-3300
m. The best season is from March to May, if you come during this time,
it’s quite possible that you can see the golden-hair monkeys. |

Hike down the mountain and drive back to Lijiang. Stay
in a 4 star hotel. |

Relax in Lijiang Old Town, visit the Black Dragon Pond
and the Suhe Naxi village. |

D12 |
Take a morning flight from Lijiang back to Kunming, meet
at airport and transfer to have a short city tour, in the afternoon,
see you off at the Kunming airport. |
