 The Jiangsu and Zhejiang
provinces to the south of the Yangtze River have been known
as a paradise on earth since ancient times. They are featured
by crisscrossing rivers and lakes, small bridges, running streams,
small ancient towns, rural scenery, villages, classical gardens,
winding paths and corridors, and green bamboo groves. The local
accents are sweet and charming. In Zhejiang Province, you may
take a boat tour on the West Lake in
 Hangzhou, taste Dragon
Well tea, and attend a fisherman's wedding ceremony; you may
as well take a side trip to Xitang, a water town, 11 kilometers
from Jiashan County in the province. Xitang is outstanding among
other old towns of the country for its big number of bridges,
house lanes and veranda passages. In Jiangsu Province, you can
take a boat ride along the Grand Canal. appreciate the classical
gardens in Suzhou, visit the Folklore Village in Wuxi, and view
the scenery of the Qinhuai River in Nanjing.
