1. What documents I should hold for traveling in Tibet?
There are two requirements for foreign tourists who don't hold Chinese ID Card tour in Tibet. One is the Chinese Visa, which you can apply for in Chinese Embassy in your place. Another is the Alien Travel Permit. Your local travel agency can be your representative for applying for the permit. The copy of your valid passport and Chinese visa with your occupation should be providing when you apply for it. We can receive it both from fax and e-mail.
2. What are the hot places in Tibet?
Lhasa, Tsedang, Gyantse, Shigatse, Tingri, Dam etc are the most popular places in Tibet both for Normal or trekking tour in Tibet. As to the expedition places: the Mt. Everest, Mt. Kailish and the Kharta area are the most exciting and accessable places for trekking and expedition tour.
3. How to enter Tibet?
By air, there have been opened ten flight routes. Beijing-Lhasa, Chengdu-Lhasa, Chongqing-Lhasa, Xian-Lhasa, Kathmandu-Lhasa, Zhongdian-Lhasa, Hong Kong-Lhasa, Shanghai-Lhasa, Guangzhou-Lhasa, Xining-Lhasa. But only flights from Chengduare the dairly service.
4. What medic Should I bring for the high elevation?
In addition to the normal medications for travelling, just like the Aspirin and Lbruprofen etc, you should bring some high altitude medication, the "Acetazolamide" is a ten tablets to prevent symptoms of acute mountain sickness, or you can ask your local doctor for suggestions.
5. What should I bring for the Plateau weather?
Tibet's high altitude and the atmosphere allow the sun's solar radiation to strike the earth with unusual intensity. To protect your eyes and skin, you'd better to bring the sunscreen, which with a sun protection factor of 15 and sunglasses or darkglasses are also useful. And lip creams and balms are also sold with SPF ratings, zinc, oxide creams provide 100% blockout. In a pinch use toothpaste as a substitude.
Weather Report in Lhasa
The best season for touring in Tibet is from April to October, but various route has its own golden times:
1) Lhasa, Tsedang, Singatse: As the weather and tourism facilities in these places are quite good, so you can visit them in anytime for enjoying the breathtaking scenery!
2) Lhasa, the border of Nepal/China: This area is not available for tourists from Dec-Jan because of the sowed land; every August, the rain season, landslide will be occurred!
3) Mt. Everest area: It is too cold to the tourists visiting this area from Oct to April! But the beauty of the roof of the world will move you in anytime.
4) Ali (Mt. Kailishi): You can enjoy the wonder in this area at the time of every May, June, July, Sep, Oct without the trouble of the landslide by the big rain & snow.
5) East Tibet: Do not touch this area in Winter & in Jul/Aug, as there will be a terrible landslide in Summer and frozen load in Winter.
6) Northe Tibet: Since it is too high with the average altitude at 4,500M, you only can appreciate her beauty in Summer!
