In order
to seek peace on the northern border, Wang Zhaojun married the
chief of the Xiongnu Horde in 33 B.C. After her marriage, the
ethnic groups lived in peace and harmony. Her dark blue burial
mound, surounded in mist, was called the "Green Grave"
in past eras. Today the burial mound, built of packed earth by
ancient people, reaches a height of 33 meters and occupies and
area of more than 1.5 hectares; it is open as a place of sightseeing.
