The temple,
built in 1732, was originally named "Vajira Sharil Suburga",
a religious description meaning, "stupa for relics or ashes
of Buddha with a Buddha Sutra base". The temple, a seven
- storey stupa, is 7.8 meters high; and surmounted with the five
pagodas which give the structure its name; the central pagoad
is 6.26 meters tall. On the rear wall, facing the temple, there
are three marble relief sculptures, including a planisphere marked
with Mongolian inscriptions - the only one yet discovered in China.
