There are
some main cultural performance arena and museum of Hong Kong along
the sea side of the Star Ferry Pier. Their external form designs
have different characteristics:
Clock Tower: It is 44 meters high and is situated
by the side of the Star Ferry Pier. It was built in 1915 at the
terminal station of Kowloon -Guangzhou railway. When the railway
station was shifted in 1975, this Tower is the only remaining
building.
The Cultural Center: It is the main arena of
different cultural activities. Its slide type roof design is the
symbol of Hong Kong scenery.
Hong Kong Space Museum: This Space Museum is
one of the most advanced museums of science and technology in
the world. It was formed by exhibition hall, solar hall and astronomical
phenomena hall, in which exhibits concerning outer space are displayed.
The astronomical phenomena cinepanoramic movies are regularly
shown in the astronomical phenomena hall. The projector is the
most advanced one first used in Asia. The projected image makes
one deeply feel the mystery in the outer space.
Hong Kong Museum of Art: It is situated by
the sea side of Tsim Sha Tsui, close to Space Museum. This is
a five-storeyed building, more than ten times larger than the
former one. It has advanced and perfect equipments and six exhibition
halls, including oration hall, open air sculpture ground, room
of friends of the Museum of Art and hall of exhibits selling service
etc. Visitors can appreciate multiple arts of famous artists local
and abroad.
